Meridian are in a league of their own!

The Meridian team prove again that they are the leading corporate finance boutique in the South by setting the bar with 5 wins at this year’s Solent Deals Awards.

The evening’s awards ceremony was attended by more than 250 guests from a selection of corporate organisations, such as law, accountancy, banking, corporate finance and PE firms, as well as local businesses that were involved in high profile deals during the qualifying period.

2017 marked the debut of the Young Adviser of the Year Award and we are absolutely delighted that our own Philip Mettam won the award alongside Gemma Wild of HSBC. The judging panel decided that due to the quality of the emerging talent within the under 35 category it deserved two winners. On receiving his award Philip commented, “I’m delighted to have been selected by the panel for this award, particularly given such strong competition in the region! A huge thank you must go to all the professionals we work alongside, without whom our transactions couldn’t happen. We look forward to having another successful year in 2018.”

With the first award under our belts, we moved on to the next category... Corporate Finance Team of the Year… and the winner is… Meridian Corporate Finance! Commenting on the win Michael Barcia said, “I am immensely proud of our team.  We have worked on a number of complex deals in the qualifying period and we would not have completed each mandate so successfully without the tenacity and genuine collaboration of our team.”

Now with two awards on the table, we moved into the categories that are voted for on the night; Management Team of the Year, Large Deal of the Year (over £50m), Mid-Range Deal of the year (£10m - £50m) and Small deal of the Year (under £10m). We were immensely proud that three of the awards were won by two of our completed deals. Our clients CT Automotive won both the Management Team of the Year and Mid-Range Deal of the Year and Stewart Signs won Small Deal of the Year.

David Wilkinson, CEO of CT Automotive, commented “Meridian were the only firm which came up with the innovative structure that managed to balance shareholder cash requirements with the appetite some of them had to participate in future upside.”

Anthony Townson, Managing Director for Stewart Signs commented on his company win, “This was a big deal for us, a family business that my father set up. We wanted to make sure it sustains itself and grows further. Meridian’s deal structure has been the perfect solution, comfortable for everyone, a seamless transition.”
